David Parker, president of The Greater Charleston Magic Club, is asking all Charleston region magicians to disappear on Friday the 13th. Yes, January 13th could be really lucky for these able to attend the "S.C.A.M." convention in Columbia, S.C. to receive instruction from some of the world's best professional magicians.
S.C.A.M. is a clever acronym for the South Carolina Association of Magicians and this will be 11th year that Columbia, SC has hosted this International standard. This year, the convention will run from January 13-14 at the Columbia Marriott Hotel. Featured performers include Jade, Joshua Jay, Gazzo, Tony Griffith, Daniel Garria, Julian Frankin, Jason Michaels, The Fettucini Brothers, Joe Jesse and Michael Genvie. Tony Griffith will be holding a special master class for a fifteen pick magicians on January 12.
Englishman Tony Griffith will be holding a unique Workshop the day prior to the primary convention for fifteen magicians. He has been performing magic for over thirty many years and is a member of England's prestigious Inner Circle - a extremely pick honorary group of England's greatest magicians. Regional port truck driver, David Parker, from Ladson, SC will be a single of the lucky fifteen who will be in attendance at Mr. Griffith's all day master class. Close up magic, storytelling magic and a lot more at the EdVenture Children's Museum on Saturday, January 14, featuring Columbia's Sarah Straney, and the best young magicians in South Carolina.
Magic Day at Edventure Children's Museum, Sunday, January 15, 1-5 PM,
Featuring magic shows by nationally recognized kid display artist Julian Franklin and more, and workshops in magic and balloon sculpting (ages six and up).
The event will be capped off with the International Magic Gala Show at the Koger Center for the Arts on Saturday, January 14, at 8 PM. The display will star globe renown magician Jade, illusionist Jason Michaels, British magicians Tony Griffith and Gazzo, The Well-known Fettucini Brothers, plus other people performing sleight of hand magic in the lobby, and much more. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to benefit Palmetto Well being Children's Hospital.
